It’s hard to know how to respond, except by laughing, to these excerpts from this week’s Free Times story “Send in the Clowns” about former S.C. Head Clown Mark Sanford:
Disgraced former governor Mark Sanford (R-Appalachian Trail) is running to reclaim the seat he once held back in the ‘90s, and is sucking much media oxygen from the race in the process.
Sanford to his ex-wife: “I could pay you this time”
When Mark Sanford ran for Congress and governor, his then-wife Jenny ran the campaigns. Recently there had been talk that Jenny might run for Congress this year. According to New York magazine, Jenny told Mark at a funeral for a friend that she wouldn’t run. The next day, he came to her with a proposal. “Since you’re not running, I want to know if you’ll run my campaign,” he said, according to the magazine. Jenny told him it wasn’t going to happen. Mark made one last appeal, saying, “I could pay you this time.”
Remember, I warned you about this type of nonsense in my earlier post, “Southern Officials are Tops.”
